China’s Jianfeng Sun won the APT Jeju 2026 Main Event on Saturday, October 3, taking the Gold Lion trophy and KRW 427,565,000 (about USD 319,080) at LES A Casino in Jeju Shinhwa World, South Korea. Sun beat a 1,375-entry field two years after finishing runner-up in the same event, according to the Asian Poker Tour’s official report.

The KRW 2.7 million (about USD 1,900) buy-in Main Event built a prize pool of KRW 3,207,600,000 (about USD 2.39 million). Singapore had two players at the final table, and they finished second and third.

Who made the APT Jeju 2026 Main Event final table?

Six of the eight APT Jeju 2026 Main Event finalists came from China, two came from Singapore, and Ireland’s Toby Joyce was the only finalist from outside Asia. Sun started the final table as chip leader with 12,060,000. Steve Ng was second on 9,050,000, per the APT’s final-eight update.

Why did the runner-up win more than the champion?

Steve Ng took home more money than Jianfeng Sun because the two agreed a heads-up deal. The APT reports that the deal locked in KRW 449,115,000 for Ng. Sun and Ng then played for the title, the trophy and a remaining KRW 23,600,000 (about USD 17,610). Sun won that final part, but Ng still finished with the bigger payout.

Sun told the APT that the first hand of the final table set the tone: “On the very first hand, when my AK eliminated KK, I felt like luck was on my side today.” He added that he felt he had “made progress over the past two years, especially in my mindset and with table dynamics.” His runner-up finish in 2024 came against Xixiang Luo.

How international was the APT Jeju 2026 field?

The APT Jeju 2026 Main Event drew players from 35 countries and regions, the tour said in its field breakdown. China supplied 684 of the 1,375 entries. Next came Japan (121), Hong Kong (101), Taiwan (81), Vietnam (58), Thailand (46), the United States (46) and Singapore (37). The APT ranks the field as the ninth-largest Main Event of its “New Era” and the fourth-largest it has run in Korea. The 2025 Jeju edition drew more entries. Somuchpoker’s preview listed the guarantee as KRW 2.2 billion, and the final prize pool was well above that.

Southeast Asian players also did well in the side events. Thailand’s Rangkatekarn won the Super High Roller for KRW 355.7M. Indonesia’s Rudy Edenata and Vietnam’s Nang Quang Nguyen finished second and third in the Superstar Challenge High Roller.

What is next on the APT schedule?

The next APT stop is the APT Championship in Taipei in November, which has a USD 5 million guaranteed Main Event. The APT says the top three Jeju Main Event finishers each received a USD 10,000 seat to it. Our APT Championship 2026 Taipei guide covers the costs and how to qualify.
