A failed poker KYC check almost never means the room suspects fraud. Nearly always the upload was rejected on a technicality — a proof of address older than three months, a name romanised differently on your ID than on your account, or a photo with a cropped corner. Read the exact rejection reason in the Verify ID panel, fix that one thing, and resubmit once rather than firing off three more attempts.

That last part matters: repeated failures push your file out of the automated queue into manual review, which is how a two-day verification becomes a two-week one.

Find the actual rejection reason before you upload anything else

Every major room — GGPoker, Natural8, WPT Global, CoinPoker — writes a reason code or short note against the rejected document, usually in the cashier under Verify ID, Account Verification or Documents. The email you get is generic (“your document could not be verified”); the useful detail sits in the client.

Work out which of the three separate checks failed, because each has a different fix:

  • Identity — passport, national ID card or driving licence.
  • Address — a document issued in the last three months showing your name and residential address.
  • Payment method — proof you own the card, e-wallet or crypto wallet you deposited with.

Players routinely re-upload a passport when it was the address document that bounced. The GGPoker help centre lists current requirements per market.

The rejections Asian players hit most

Photo quality. Glare from an overhead light, a shadow across the MRZ strip at the bottom of a passport, or one corner cut off. Shoot the document flat on a plain dark surface in daylight, no flash, all four corners in frame.

Expired or non-qualifying ID. Student cards, work badges and photocopies are auto-rejected and still burn an attempt.

Address document too old. Three months is the near-universal cutoff. A January electricity bill uploaded in September fails even though the address is correct.

Wrong kind of address proof. Mobile phone bills, P.O. boxes, hotel or Airbnb addresses and plain banking screenshots are commonly refused. A bank-issued PDF with letterhead and your full address usually passes where a screenshot does not.

Payment proof masked wrong. For cards, the first six and last four digits, cardholder name and expiry must be visible; middle digits and CVV must be covered. Blacking out too much fails as surely as too little.

Proof of address when you don’t get utility bills

This is the genuinely regional problem. Across much of Southeast Asia the electricity or water account sits in a landlord’s or parent’s name, condo fees are bundled into rent, and a renter may never receive one qualifying bill.

Alternatives that are generally accepted:

  • A stamped bank statement collected from the branch, or a bank-issued PDF with your address printed on it.
  • Government correspondence — tax assessment, barangay clearance in the Philippines, temporary residence confirmation in Vietnam, tabien baan in Thailand.
  • A tenancy agreement, sometimes requested together with a utility bill in the landlord’s name.
  • An insurance or broadband contract showing the service address.

If a bill is in a family member’s name, say so in the ticket and attach something linking you to the household rather than hoping nobody notices — unexplained mismatches read as a red flag under the same account-integrity rules that drive multi-accounting flags in Asia.

Name mismatches and romanisation

Registering as “Nguyen Van An” when the passport reads “NGUYEN VAN AN” is fine. “Andy Nguyen” is not. The same trap catches Korean and Japanese players whose ID is in Hangul or Kanji with a romanised line beneath, Thai players whose transliteration varies between documents, and Indians whose middle name is on the ID but not the account.

Match the account to the ID exactly, including name order. If it is already wrong, do not open a second account to fix it — that is a far more serious breach than a typo. Ask support to amend the name, which rooms do routinely when the ID backs it up.

Timelines, and when a delay stops being normal

Automated approval can land in minutes. Human review typically runs 24 to 72 hours, stretching towards five business days after a major series. Past that, chase it — verification tickets do get stranded.

Verification and withdrawal are separate gates. Clearing KYC does not release a pending cashout; if the money is the real issue, our guide to withdrawals rejected by your bank covers the banking-side causes.

Stuck on a rejection you cannot decode, or unsure which document your room takes in your country? Message @PAGDaddyBot and we will tell you what has been working lately in your market.

One habit worth building: verify when you open the account, not the day you cash out a score. Natural8 and WSOP Online can request documents at any point, and the worst time to find your address proof expired is with a five-figure withdrawal pending. If the login looks compromised rather than unverified, treat it as a security incident instead.

FAQ

Why did my poker KYC verification fail when my documents are real?
Authenticity is rarely the issue. Most rejections come down to image quality, an address document older than three months, a name that does not match the account, or an unaccepted document type.

How many times can I resubmit documents before something bad happens?
There is no hard ban, but repeated failures push your file into manual review and slow everything down. Fix the stated reason, then submit once.

Can I use a utility bill in my parent’s or landlord’s name?
Sometimes, if you can link yourself to the address with a tenancy agreement, family document or government letter. Submitting it with no explanation usually fails.

What can I use as proof of address in Thailand, Vietnam or the Philippines?
Bank statements showing your address, tax or residence certificates, tabien baan and tenancy agreements are the common substitutes where bills are not in your name.

How long should poker account verification take?
Minutes if automated; 24 to 72 hours for manual review, and up to about five business days during busy series periods.

Does passing KYC mean my withdrawal is approved?
No. Verification and payment processing are separate checks, and a cashout can still be held for payment-method or banking reasons.

My name is spelled differently on my ID than on my account. What now?
Ask support to correct the account name and provide the ID. Never open a second account to get around it.
