WPT Global now sits fourth in the global online poker rankings with a PRO Score of 1,870, after Poker Industry PRO started counting the site’s cash games alongside its tournament entries. The change, reflected in the September 15 snapshot, pushed WPT Global past CoinPoker (1,805) and lifted its score from roughly 1,500 to around 2,000 almost overnight.
Nothing about the games themselves changed. What changed is measurement: Sharkscope Analytics began supplying cash game data for the room, and a ranking that had only ever seen WPT Global‘s MTT side suddenly saw the rest of it. The site’s seven-day cash average came in at 1,833 players, with 73,325 tournament entries over the same window. Its all-time peak on a 30-day moving average, 2,082, was set at the end of August.
Cash Is the Strong Half of the Business
The reshuffle is interesting less for the position than for the shape it reveals. Against PokerStars, WPT Global is close where it counts for grinders: PokerStars averaged 2,274 cash players, only about 24% ahead. In tournaments the distance is a chasm — 178,903 entries against WPT Global’s 73,325, roughly 144% more volume.
Read together, that is a room whose ring games carry a heavier share of the load than at any of the sites above it. GGPoker remains untouchable at 12,450, with Winamax (5,040) and PokerStars (3,194) filling out the podium, and iPoker trailing on 1,458.
Yuan Tables Are Doing the Lifting
Much of that cash liquidity is Asian in origin. A substantial slice of WPT Global’s traffic arrives through network partners across the region, a large portion of its tables are denominated in Chinese yuan rather than dollars, and the tournament schedule is built around Asian evenings rather than European or American ones.
The operator has leaned into that openly this year. WPT Asia Overdrive ran in August with ¥200,000,000 guaranteed — more than $20 million — which is not the kind of number a room posts for a side market. For players in Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei or Seoul, the practical upshot is that the fourth-biggest site in the world is running its busiest hours in their time zone, in a currency many of them already hold.
One Caveat on the Ranking
PRO Score is not a raw headcount, and it is worth knowing how it handles gaps. Where cash game data is unavailable for a network, the methodology scales the score using MTT entries instead — which is exactly the position WPT Global was in until now. Other rooms in the table may still be measured that way, so the jump says as much about data coverage catching up as it does about growth.
That is the honest framing: WPT Global did not add 500 points of players in a fortnight. It got counted properly. Whether the 1,870 holds through the autumn, once the Asia Overdrive bump washes out of the averages, is the number worth watching.
