WPT Prime Taiwan is coming back to Taipei. The World Poker Tour has announced a festival at the CTP Asia Poker Arena from January 2 to 11, 2027, with the WPT Prime Taiwan Championship running January 7–11. The Championship costs TWD 35,000 to enter (about USD 1,100) and guarantees TWD 30 million (about USD 1 million).
The festival is presented by PokerTalk, and WPT Global is the official sponsor. WPT also confirmed a second Special WPT event at the same venue for August 12–23, 2027. These details come from the official WPT announcement, as reported by Somuchpoker on October 14, 2026.
When is WPT Prime Taiwan 2027 and where is it held?
WPT Prime Taiwan 2027 runs from January 2 to 11, 2027, at the CTP Asia Poker Arena in Taipei’s Zhongshan District. The venue is operated by the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP). The Championship takes up the last five days of the festival, January 7–11.
WPT has not released the full daily schedule yet. Side events, starting times and Day 1 flight dates are still to come, so check the official WPT page before you book flights.
“We are delighted to welcome WPT back to Taiwan,” CTP founder Hsing “David” Tai said in the announcement.
How much is the WPT Prime Taiwan Championship buy-in and guarantee?
The WPT Prime Taiwan Championship has a TWD 35,000 buy-in (about USD 1,100) and a TWD 30 million guarantee (about USD 1 million). WPT gives these figures in Taiwan dollars, and the USD amounts are approximate.
Taipei fields have usually beaten that guarantee easily. In 2024 the Championship drew 1,666 entries, which at the time was a record for a WPT Prime Championship outside Las Vegas, and reports put that year’s prize pool at TWD 50.9 million. In 2025 Hyundong Lee won the title from a field of 1,470 entries. For a comparison with the other WPT Prime stops in the region, see our WPT Prime Asia buy-in guide.
Can I qualify online through WPT Global?
Yes, but the details aren’t out yet. WPT Global, the event’s official sponsor, plans online satellites at several buy-ins, including cheaper ones, with live packages for the January festival up for grabs. WPT has not announced the satellite dates, buy-ins, what the packages include or who is eligible. We’ll add them here once they’re published.
WPT Global availability depends on where you live in Asia. Our Taiwan poker sites guide and WPT Global Vietnam review explain how deposits and access work. You can follow upcoming satellite windows on the PSR poker events calendar.

What is the second WPT event in Taipei in August 2027?
WPT has confirmed a second Special WPT event at the CTP Asia Poker Arena for August 12–23, 2027. Its name, format, buy-ins and guarantee have not been announced yet. That makes Taipei one of the few Asian cities with two WPT-branded festivals on the 2027 calendar.
