Online poker sites do charge inactive account fees, and the big rooms that serve Asia all have an inactivity rule. GGPoker’s terms let it charge £5 a month once an account has gone 12 months without a deposit, withdrawal or bet. WPT Global charges USD 10 every 30 days after 13 months with no login. CoinPoker’s current policy is the strictest: an account not accessed for 180 days is treated as inactive and its balance is reset until you contact support. On GGPoker, an account left dormant for a further 12 months (24 in total) is closed and the balance goes to charity.
Most players run into these rules by accident. Maybe you took a job overseas, had a baby, or just stopped playing after a bad run in 2024. When you finally log back in, the balance is smaller than you remember, or the account is locked. Here is how each clause works and what to do before the fees use up what’s left.
The clock is not the same on every site
What matters most is what resets the timer, and this is the part people get wrong.
GGPoker (section 23 of its Terms & Conditions) defines a Dormant Account as one that, for 12 months or more, has not had funds deposited, had funds withdrawn, had a bet placed or had a bet settled. Logging in does not count. You could open the client every week to check PokerCraft and still be dormant. The terms do not promise a warning email. Instead, GGPoker reserves the right to charge a £5 monthly processing fee (or whatever is left if the balance is under £5) on the last day of each month, until the account is active again or the balance reaches zero.
WPT Global works the other way round. Under its terms, an account becomes inactive after 13 consecutive months with no login or logout recorded. WPT Global says it will notify you, and you then have 30 days to withdraw before a USD 10 Inactive Account Fee is charged, repeating every 30 days.
CoinPoker’s rule changed in 2026. Older versions of its terms used a 13-month inactivity period with at least 14 days’ notice before any fee. Its current Account, Pay-outs & Bonuses Policy (last updated March 2026) is much shorter: an account that has not been accessed for 180 days is deemed inactive and its positive balance is reset. The money is not necessarily lost, but to get it reinstated you have to contact CoinPoker customer support.
| Site | Trigger | Fee | Warning? | Final step |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GGPoker | 12 months, no deposit/withdrawal/bet | £5 / month (discretionary) | Not promised | Closed after 12 more dormant months; funds donated to charity |
| WPT Global | 13 months, no login | USD 10 / 30 days | Yes, 30 days to withdraw | Fee runs until the balance is gone |
| CoinPoker | 180 days, account not accessed | No fee; balance reset | Not stated | Contact support to reinstate |
Natural8 runs on GGNetwork, but it publishes its own terms. Don’t assume its numbers match GGPoker’s. Read its dormant clause directly.
Why players in Asia get caught more often
Inactivity clauses were written with European players in mind, who can usually log back in and cash out with the same bank card they used five years ago. Asian players often can’t. These situations come up again and again:
- The payment route has closed. The e-wallet, agent or local bank channel you deposited through may no longer work for poker. Even after you reactivate, getting money out can mean going through a new method from scratch. Our guide to withdrawals rejected by your bank covers the usual fixes.
- Your phone number has changed. A new SIM after moving from Manila to Singapore means the SMS code goes to a number you no longer have.
- You’ve moved countries. If you registered in Vietnam and now live in Japan, the room may need to re-check your country before it releases funds. See changing country on GGPoker.
- Your documents have expired. Rooms commonly ask for current KYC documents before releasing funds from a long-idle account, so a passport that expired in 2025 can hold everything up.
Already dormant? Do these in order
- Work out the date of your last real transaction, not your last login (for GGPoker). That tells you how many monthly fees have probably been taken and how close you are to the 24-month cut-off.
- Get your current ID ready before you contact support. Have a valid passport or national ID, plus proof of address from the last three months. If the balance is large, you may also be asked for a source of funds check.
- Ask support to reactivate the account and give you a fee breakdown. Ask in writing which months were charged.
- Do something that resets the timer. On GGPoker that means a deposit, a withdrawal or a bet, so even a micro-stakes hand counts. On WPT Global, logging in is enough. On CoinPoker, access the account at least once every 180 days.
- If you’re done with the site, cash out and close the account yourself. A zero-balance account can’t be charged anything.
Locked out and not sure what the room wants from you? @PAGDaddyBot on Telegram can walk you through reactivating an account before another month’s fee goes out.
How to never pay one
Set a calendar reminder for five months after your last session, since CoinPoker’s 180-day rule is the shortest. When it comes up, either play a single hand (on GGPoker) or log in (on WPT Global and CoinPoker), or withdraw the balance. If you hold accounts on several sites for rakeback, write down which action counts on each one. They are not interchangeable.
FAQ
Does logging in stop GGPoker’s dormant fee?
No. GGPoker’s definition only looks at deposits, withdrawals and bets. You need to play a hand or move money to stay active.
How much is the GGPoker inactive account fee?
£5 per month, or whatever is left if the balance is below £5. GGPoker reserves the right to charge it once the account has gone 12 months with no deposit, withdrawal, or bet placed or settled.
What happens to my money after 24 months on GGPoker?
The account is treated as abandoned and closed, and the terms say the remaining balance will be donated to charity. If you think this has happened to your account, contact GGPoker support in writing as soon as possible.
Does WPT Global warn me before charging?
Yes. After 13 months with no login, WPT Global says it will notify you. You then have 30 days to withdraw before the USD 10 fee starts.
Can I get inactivity fees refunded?
None of the terms promise a refund. You can still ask support, politely and in writing, especially if no warning was sent. The decision is up to the operator.
Is a zero-balance account charged anything?
No. The fees come out of your balance, so an empty account has nothing to charge. Cashing out fully is the easiest protection.
