You can’t change your country on GGPoker yourself — you contact customer support, and depending on the rules in your new country, they will either update your existing profile after a new proof-of-address check or ask you to open a new profile under the same GGPass login. If a new profile is needed, you must first spend or clear any Tournament Dollars, Cash Game Dollars and tickets, claim pending rewards, settle open prop bets and withdraw your cash balance to your last deposit method.
That is the short answer. The longer one matters, because Asia has a lot of players who move around: a Filipino grinder taking a contract in Singapore, a Korean regular moving to Tokyo, an Australian heading back home after a few years in Bangkok. Getting the order of steps wrong is how a routine move turns into a locked account and a frozen balance.
Why GGPoker won’t let you just edit the flag
Your country isn’t just a setting. It decides which licence your account sits under, which payment methods you can use, which promotions you get and, in some places, whether you can play for real money at all. GGPoker runs separate regulated rooms in some markets and a .com room for most of Asia, all tied together by GGPass, its single login for GGPoker, Natural8 and ClubGG.
So when you move, support has to check whether your new country can stay on the same profile or has to go onto a different one. GGPoker’s own help centre article on permanently relocating to another country says it plainly: depending on local rules, you may need a new profile under your existing GGPass account.
If you move within the same country (Manila to Cebu, say), it’s simpler: upload a new proof-of-address document and you’re done.
Before you pack: a five-point checklist
Do these while you still live at the address on your account. Every step is easier with a matching address and a working local payment method.
- Use up your bonus money. Tournament Dollars (T$), Cash Game Dollars and tournament tickets usually don’t carry over to a new profile. Play them or turn T$ into buy-ins you’ll actually use before the move.
- Claim anything pending. Honeymoon missions, Fish Buffet rewards, leaderboard prizes: claim them now. Unclaimed promo rewards are on the list GGPoker asks you to clear.
- Settle prop bets and staking deals. Open prop bets must be settled. If you’ve sold staking shares in an upcoming event, finish it or cancel it first.
- Withdraw your cash balance while your old bank still works. Withdrawals go back to your last deposit method. If that’s a Thai bank account or a GCash wallet you’re about to close, cash out before you close it. Don’t leave money on a profile tied to a payment method you can’t reach anymore.
- Save your stats. Export or screenshot your PokerCraft history if you care about it. A new profile may start with an empty record.
What support will actually ask you for
Expect the same kind of checks as a first-time KYC, just pointed at your new address:
- Proof of residence in the new country: a utility bill, bank statement or rental agreement in your name, usually dated within the last three months.
- Your existing photo ID. Your passport normally stays the same. It’s your address that changes.
- Sometimes a selfie or video check if the new profile sits under a stricter licence.
The document most people get stuck on is the proof of address. Newly arrived expats often don’t have a utility bill in their name for the first month or two. A bank statement from a local account, or an employer letter plus a signed lease, is usually the quickest fix. Ask support what they’ll accept before you upload, not after a rejection.
The Asia-specific traps
Moving into a restricted market. Some countries don’t allow offshore real-money poker at all. Australia is the obvious one for APAC players, where the Interactive Gambling Act keeps international sites out. If your new country is restricted, the honest outcome is that you withdraw and stop playing real-money games there. There isn’t a workaround.
Playing through a VPN “until the paperwork is sorted”. This is the single most common way movers lose accounts. Opening a fresh account instead of relocating. A second account with a new email address counts as multi-accounting, even if you only meant to “start clean”. GGPass links you by identity, not just by email. Always go through support.
Short trips aren’t moves. A two-week holiday in Jeju isn’t a relocation, and you don’t need to file one. Whether you can play from where you’re visiting depends on local rules, but your home profile stays as it is.
