Short answer: on GGPoker, Natural8 and WPT Global, you can’t use a VPN. Their terms ban any tool that hides where you really are. A first offence can get you a warning or a suspension, and repeat or serious cases end in a permanent ban and confiscated funds. CoinPoker is more relaxed about VPNs on paper, but logging in from a restricted country still breaks its terms. So if you play from Asia, turn the VPN off before you open the poker client.
Most players who get caught weren’t trying to cheat. Maybe they left a work VPN running, a phone switched to a “privacy relay” on its own, or they tried to get around a slow connection. The poker room can’t tell your intent from its logs. It only sees an IP address that doesn’t match your KYC documents. What each room’s rules actually say
The GGNetwork rooms have the clearest rules. The GGPoker Security & Ecology Policy “strictly prohibits the use of VPN, proxy or any alternative methods intended to mask one’s actual location and/or identity.” Minor breaches get a warning, a suspension or a VPN block. Repeat or major breaches get a permanent ban and confiscation. Natural8’s version goes further: it also bans remote desktop and screen-sharing tools such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk and Chrome Remote Desktop while the client is open, because those tools make ghosting and multi-accounting possible.

WPT Global uses GeoComply, a geolocation service that looks at more than your IP address. It also checks device signals, so it can spot proxies and location spoofing that a basic IP check would miss. Switching to a “better” VPN won’t get you past it, and it just makes you look more suspicious.
Why honest players get flagged
These are the situations we see most often from players in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam:
- A corporate VPN left on. Many office laptops send all traffic through Singapore or Hong Kong. If you open the client during lunch, your account appears to be in another country.
- iCloud Private Relay or a browser’s built-in VPN. Some phones and browsers turn these on quietly. Check your settings before you blame the poker room.
- Travelling. Playing from a hotel in a country the room doesn’t serve is a breach even without a VPN. Using a VPN to “get back home” while abroad is exactly what the rules target.

- Shared devices or remote access. If a coach or a friend remotes into your PC while the client is open, that can look like account sharing. That’s the same pattern that gets multi-accounting bans.
Already frozen? Proof of Presence is how you get it back
GGPoker and Natural8 both say they may ask for Proof of Presence (PoP) to confirm where you really are. Usually that means a recent utility bill or bank statement in your name at your registered address. Sometimes they also want a live photo or video taken at that location. Here’s how to handle it:
- Stop logging in with the VPN right away. Every new session behind a masked IP makes your case weaker.
- Reply to support in the same ticket thread. Tell them what happened (for example, “my work VPN was active”) and don’t argue about it.
- Send PoP documents that match your KYC details exactly: the same name spelling and the same address. Mismatched details are the most common reason reviews drag on. See our KYC failure fixes.
- Don’t open a second account while you wait. That turns a minor breach into a major one.
